In 2020, despite difficulties relating to Covid 19 pandemic, the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam still conducted a relatively significant amount of work, completing the goals set out from the begin of the year.
However, there are still some remaining problems in the processing of registration applications, such as: the amount of backlogged applications from previous years has not been completely resolved, the period of substantive examination of applications has been prolonged compared to the regulations,…. One of the reasons for the above-mentioned matter is that the amount of work is huge while the infrastructure and human resources does still not meet.
Therefore, in 2021, the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam proposed some measures to overcome the difficulties such as: supplementing human resources, improving infrastructure, participating in a wide range of national and international professional activities for examiners to obtain experience, update knowledge and increasing the efficiency of online searching tools and application to enhance the productivity and quality of the application process.
