What are codes and barcodes for products?
ELITE: Codes and barcodes for products are a series of numbers printed on goods/products, showing information of the product such as manufacturing country (made in…), business name, batch, registered quality standards, information of product’ size,… According to regulations, all products sold at Supermarkets must have product codes and barcodes attached for management and check product quality by the government’s management authorities.
What are the required documents for registering products’ codes and barcodes?
ELITE: The application for registration of the products’ codes and barcodes includes the following documents:
- 02 authenticated copies of the Company’s Business Registration Certificate;
- 02 Registration forms to use Products’ Barcodes (prepared by ELITE);
- 02 Product category registration table using GTin code (prepared by ELITE)
How long does it take to complete the procedure of registration for products’ codes and barcodes?
ELITE: The time limit to review the application and activate the Barcode on the National system (online processing) is 07 working days from the date of submitting the full application at the National Barcode and Code Center of Vietnam.
We would like to note that the Barcode Registration Certificate will be issued after 30 days from the date the Client has completed the detailed declaration of barcoded products on the Code Center’s online system of the National Barcode and Code Center of Vietnam.
How much does it cost to register products’ codes and barcodes?
ELITE: We note that costs for registration of products’ code and barcode include:
(i) Government fees:
1. Fees for issuance and instructions for using barcodes
– Using GS1 business code (regardless of registration code): 1,000,000 VND
– Using global location code (GLN): 300,000 VND
Using 8-digit global trade item number EAN-8 (GTIN-8): 300,000 VND
2. Fees for registration (confirmation) of using foreign barcodes
– Records with less than or equal to 50 product codes: 500,000 VND/record
– Documents with more than 50 product codes: 10,000 VND/code
