According to the Government Electronic Newspaper, on December 26, the Vietnam Science and Technology Journalists Club announced the results of a poll of 10 outstanding Science and Technology events in 2022. In which the second outstanding event was the passage of the Law on amendment and supplementation of some articles of Law on Intellectual Property.

This is the 17th year this activity has been organized by the Vietnam Science and Technology Journalists Club with the participation of more than 40 reporters specializing in the science and technology field of central and local press agencies.

On May 11, 2022, the Prime Minister issued the Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation Development to 2030. This strategy has special significance not only for the science and technology industry but also for the entire political system because the role of science, technology and innovation in the next 10 years is a strategic breakthrough, which is decisive to create a breakthrough to improve productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness of the economy.
The contents of the Strategy are built on a scientific basis, have a practical basis and are in sync with relevant contents in the documents of the Party and State, especially the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of Party, the 10-year socio-economic development strategy 2021-2030.
At the meeting on June 16, 2022, the third session of the XV National Assembly approved the Law on amendment and supplementation of some articles of Law on Intellectual Property, officially taking effect from January 1, 2023.
The Law on amendment and supplementation of some articles of Law on Intellectual Property is a difficult law project with in-depth specialized content, requiring knowledge related to the field of intellectual property, practical application and understanding on international commitments related to intellectual property; ensure that after issue, bring the Law closer to international practices, meet practical requirements, and meet requirements of ensuring rights and interests of the people and enterprises.
The pilot implementation of the local innovation index (PII) is the mission assigned by the Government to the Ministry of Science and Technology. 2022 is the first year that the Ministry of Science and Technology has implemented and piloted 20 localities, from which to learn from and perfect the methods and methods of implementation and assessment of the impact of the index on localities.
The PII index frame includes 51 indicators, of which 15 will take data from localities; 36 indexes take data from ministries, sectors and other organizations at the central. The Departments of Science and Technology are the focal point for collecting and synthesizing local data. On November 29, in Hanoi, the Central Committee’s Publicity and Education Commission, in collaboration with the Central Council of Theoretical Studies, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, organized the National Workshop “National value system, cultural value system, family value system and Vietnamese human standards in the new period”.

One of the most harmful diseases on papaya is being solved by scientists at the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology with gene editing technology through the CRISPR/Cas9 system.
The Plant Cell Technology Research Group at the Institute of Biotechnology under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology said that it has conducted the first research on editing the PRSV-resistant eIF4E gene on papaya using CRISPR/Cas9 technology. The preliminary results of papaya gene editing have just been published in the Plant Cell Tissue and Organ Cultures Magazine (Spring Nature Publishing House). Previously, to test the effectiveness of the gene editing system, the group worked on editing the eIF4E gene in a tobacco model plant to assess resistance to PYV virus. These are the two highest awards recognized, honored and awarded by the State to scientists, authors, and co-authors of exceptionally excellent works of high value in science and technology, importantly and practically contributing to the cause of socio-economic development, national defense and security… Accordingly, 12 works and clusters of works were awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize and 17 works and clusters of works were awarded the State Prize in Science and Technology.
On the evening of December 20, the second VinFuture Award ceremony took place at the Hanoi Opera House. Five scientists who invented and developed global network technology are the owners of the main prize, worth 3 million USD of the VinFuture award in 2022. This year, the work that won the top prize is the result of many developments related to the global network. VinFuture evaluates research comprehensively, in a multidimensional relationship. Many research may never reach their destination or have little application in isolation, but if they are brought together, breakthroughs can happen.
