Yes, in 2022, the examination of industrial design applications generally met the requirements of quantity and processing progress. Various measures were taken by IP Viet Nam to address the backlog of industrial design applications submitted before January 1, 2021.
Despite the positive outcomes, there were still challenges in the industrial design application processing. Notably, evaluation times for the form of certain industrial design applications did not adhere to regulations. Additionally, backlogs from previous years remained unresolved, indicating a multi-year issue.
One of the contributing factors to the limitations was the increasing workload coupled with insufficient and delayed facilities and human resource supplementation. This shortage had accumulated over the years.
In 2023, IP Viet Nam plans to enact a range of integrated solutions to tackle ongoing issues. This includes applying a new Regulation on the examination of industrial design registration applications, replacing the older version from 2009.
