Notice on 50% discount of Official IP ONLINE filing fees in Vietnam from 01 Jan. 2024 to 31 Dec. 2025

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to advise you that Circular 63/2023/TT-BTC dated 16 Oct. 2023 has amended the official IP filing fees in Circular 263/2016/TT-BTC dated 14 Nov. 2016. According to this Circular, from January 01, 2024, to December 31, 2025, the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam (VNIPO) shall apply a discount of 50% (fifty percent) of the Official filing fees for IP applications filed by ONLINE through the VNIPO’s Website. We note that these discounted fees shall apply to ONLINE applications only.

Also, we would like to inform you that, in the IP practice of Vietnam, from January 01, 2024, to now (May 10, 2024), the VNIPO’s Website allowed to receive online filing for patent applications only because the VNIPO’s online application system has not yet been completed. Therefore, in the IP practice of Vietnam, up to now, May 08, 2024, only patent applications filed ONLINE will receive the above Official filing fee reduction, namely a discount of 3.13US$ (equivalent to 75,000VND, half of the normal official fee of 150,000VND) for each patent application filing by online way.

Accordingly, for your easy reference, we would like to advise you that under this Circular, in principle, from January 01, 2024, to December 31, 2025, the following applications shall apply a discount of 50% (fifty percent) of the Official filing fees in the condition that it must be filed by ONLINE through the VNIPO’s Website:

Subjects status to be discounted 50% of the Official filing fees when ONLING filing (upto May 10, 2024)

1. Patent Applications, with a 50% filing fee discount of 75,000VND per Application (about 3.13US$), half of the normal official fee of 150,000VND: Available
2. Industrial Design, Trademark, GI, and other industrial property Applications, with a 50% filing fee discount of 75,000VND per Application (about 3.13US$), half of the normal official fee of 150,000VND: NOT Available
3. Issuance of protection certificates and certificates of registration of industrial property right assignment contracts: NOT Available
4. Maintenance, extension, invalidation, or annulment of certificates of industrial property right Registration: NOT Available
5. Issuance of industrial property representation service practice certificates: NOT Available
6. Declaration and registration of IP Representative: NOT Available
